How do I find out what this is?

I was out walking today and found a wonderful brown glazed pot head of a boy roughly 5cm tall. It is looks as if it has broken off a figurine (or possibly decorative object).

It was found within an old slag heap in Leeds where 19/20th century miners left waste. The heavy rain has washed away to reveal a fresh layer of finds. I often find clay pipes with very interesting patterns there and your usual pretty broken crockery but never anything like this.

Is there anything online that can help me find out what this originally looked like?

Thanks x

Hello Cairn Raider. Must be really interesting in those old slag heaps. I used to dig for relics here in New Zealand. Mainly old bottles and such like. Perhaps you could type in Museums? I think perhaps the British Museum might help, or one of your local museums perhaps?Good Luck!
Reply:Cairn Raider. Thanks for choosing my answer. When I dug for stuff underground I used a steel rod, approx 5' long with a hollow wooden handle. When you pushed it through earth you could hear it"Clunk" through handle. Would help you. Should be easy to make it. Good Hunting! Report It
