Where can I find a breeder for a pet RACCOON, info?

I live in Georgia and I'm trying to find a breeder or a website with information on where to find a pet raccoon. The breeder can be from another state. Hopefully, someone can help me out and find some information because I can't find anything. I would like to find some information for breeders or websites listing breeders. Please help if someone has ANY information! Maybe someone out there knows someone who has a pet raccoon; I need all and any information!! Thanks!!

Here is a USDA breeder of raccoons and other exotic pets.

They warn: "In many states it is illegal to own a raccoon. In many other states it is legal as long as you obtain a permit before purchasing a raccoon. Check the local and states laws thoroughly before purchasing a raccoon and obtain the permits you will need. If you have a raccoon in an illegal state or with out a proper permit the raccoon can be seized and destroyed."

edit: I checked the Georgia laws on private ownership of exotic pets and it did not list raccoons as prohibited; however, another website on raccoons states that they are banned in Georgia. I would suggest contacting your state DNR to check on the current laws.

Georgia law (does not say when this website was last updated): http://www.api4animals.org/b4a2_exotic_a...

Reply:As adorable as Raccoon's are, you should know that in GA they are illegal to be kept as pets. You can get into a lot of trouble and have fines and even some jailtime. Also, having worked with wildlife rehab, Raccoon's are adorable but ALOT of trouble!! If you are really interested in raccoons I would contact your local wildlife rehab center (the Chattahoochee Nature Center is a good one) and see if they are accepting volunteers or interns. That way you can spend time with Raccoons that really need some help and be within the legal laws of GA.

HAVE FUN!
Reply:Raccoon are WILD animals and ARE NOT to be kept as pets. Only if you are going to rehab them. I know someone who does and it's not a good idea to raise a raccoon. Why don't you talk to your local Game and Fish Commission about it please.
Reply:It is illegal in Georgia to keep a raccoon as a pet. They are wild animals and they don't make good pets. Also though you may find some goofball criminal who raises some to be pets- they have instincts of wild animals, not domesticated animals so its cruel to make them live as pets.

scroll down a little to the list of Mammals- all those animals are not allowed as pets. The list includes raccoons.
Reply:You need to have a special permit to own one of those, it's a wild animals. You have to pay an annual fee to have the permit, and if you don't get the permit and they found out you have that animal, they will take it away and you can be charged.
